Design Objective

In the Hindi language, the word "jungli" tends to represent someone who belongs and carries characteristics of an inhabitant of a jungle. In relation to the queer community, many of these individuals often feel like an outcast or that they do not belong in society. Junglee is meant to address both the positives and negatives that these queer people tend to face within the Indian community.

Project Takeaways

This project explored how a sensitive topic can be depicted through a magazine in a simple manner by using bold typography a structured grid layout. The use of coloured textured paper for the inner pages allowed this project to grow into something more personal and unique, while also honouring the rainbow flag curated by the LGBTQ+ community. My next steps would be to revisit this project by using experimental materials and binding methods when reprinted.
